As background the work includes operations 1860-1920, with considerable detail on the little-known 1917 campaign, with valuable orders of battle &c. The edition here offered is presumably amended &/or corrected, as its supersedes the original edition. It should not be confused with the cheaper edition issued without most of the maps & plans.
