[HLMainPic] William Wallace ("Willie") Colquhoun was educated at Glenalmond, where he was a Cadet Officer and Captain of the School, and graduated at Columbia University, New York, in 1914. Coming home, he obtained a commission in the 11th (Service) Battalion Highland Light Infantry (9th Scottish Division) and proceeded to France in May 1915. He fell during the Battle of Loos, leading "B" Company in the attack on Hohenzollern Redoubt, on 25th September 1915. He was twenty-five and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial. Includes extracts from letters in training and valuable descriptions of trench warfare in 1915, with much of interest on the Battle of Loos and the attack in which he met his death. Orig. blue cloth, gilt, sp. sl. sunned o/w VG & inscribed: "With the Author's Compliments Tunbridge Wells 3rd Decr. 1920."   £220
