A superbly detailed history covering service with the Indian Corps in France 1914 up to the end of 1915, then Egypt & Palestine 1916-1919. The narrative contains full details of all operations in which the battalion took part, & each is supplemented with notes on awards & casualties. Details of the circumstances of all gallantry awards (DSO, MC, IDSM) are included. Appendices include rolls of British & Indian officers killed or wounded, rolls of awards & other honours (some land grants &c.). Perkins p.474 states "A good workmalike narrative account" which does not do justice to the quality of the writing nor the detail included in this exemplary history. Very rare & the second copy I have ever listed for sale. Orig. green cloth, gilt to front, little spotted & marked, generally VG but please note that unfortunately the endpocket maps are provided as photocopies & the rear of the title page, facing the Contents, bears some unsightly childish scribbles (see photographs).
