Contemporary souvenir for German soldiers containing photos. of towns & villages behind the front line, many with German soldiers in view or other signs of the military presence. Mostly located on the Somme front inc. the Achiets, Bapaume, la Boisselle, Cambrai, Contalmaison, Flesquieres, Fricourt, Gommecourt, Havrincourt, Longueval, Mametz &c. Compiled during Spring 1916 & was actually in the press at Bapaume as the battle of the Somme began (see note on p. [viii]). Superior edition, orig. paper covd. boards with cloth backstrip, near fine copy (also issued in paper wraps.).
