Rare locally produced history of which Victor Sutcliffe (Regiments of the British Army... Part I, Infantry) states: "A really excellent example of amateur printing though it has to be said that the attempted lithograph is not a great success! The text is a good narrative history with footnotes and includes 90 pages on the Peninsular War." VS might have added that other campaigns covered included the West Indies, Maida, Walcheren & the Indian Mutiny. Roll of officers in 1871 at penultimate leaf, with ink note of those deceased. Orig. half brown calf, gilt, green cloth covd. boards, somewhat rubbed, generally VG with errata slip bound in against tp.
