[HLMainPic] Detailed account of the expedition of 1867-68 which culminated in the capture of Magdala. The author was Asst. Military Secretary to Gen. Sir Robert Napier (afterwards Lord Napier of Magdala), commander of the force, & jointly authored the substantial 2 Volume official history of the campaign which appeared in 1870. In the Preface to the current work he states: "The endeavour of the author of this sketch has been to present to readers a succinct and impartial account of an enterprise which has rarely been equalled in the annals of war."
