Acclaimed & very elusive impressions of a skilful eyewitness utilised by the official historian who, according to the jacket notes, "has seen long & arduous service with the naval forces on the Tigris." Cox served as Paymaster on board the sloop 'Odin' - part of the Tigris Flotilla under command of Captain Cathcart R. Wason, RN, CMG - to whom this work is dedicated "In memory of the two happy years during which the author was privileged to serve under his command." Orig. cloth, titled in blue, little rubbed & worn, lacking ffep, yet a comparatively good copy.
