SECRET original operational report: NOT TO BE TAKEN BEYOND BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS. The four Parts comprise Preliminary Arrangements; Working of Administrative Arrangements during Operations; Conclusions & Recommendations; Appendices. Each part addresses subjects such as Ammunition Supply; Transport; R.E. Services; Medical; Veterinary; Signal Communications; Postal Arrangements; Labour; Ordnance; Scheme for Reporting Casualties; Instructions for Clearing the Battlefield [and burying the dead]; Instructions for Salvage, &c., demonstrating the detailed care & attention to these various aspects in planning a set-piece battle, together with accounts of the actual operations & lessons & recommendations resulting from theme. Much concerned with the Canadian Corps, & containing much interesting & unusual detail on the battle of Vimy Ridge in April 1917. Printed by AP&SS Press A at Boulogne, no indication of the number printed but undoubtedly a very small number. Orig. blue cloth with printed paper label to front. Note: Part V (not present) was a separate volume of maps, plans & diagrams produced to accompany this text.
