The post-war dismantlement by French Engineers, using explosives & other means, of secret underground installations used by the Nazis in Austria, including those at Schwaz (an ancient silver mine, the tunnel systems being adapted for the manufacture of aircraft parts, manned by a combination of prisoner-of-war labour & forced labourers), Kematen (a deep valley & specially built tunnel system in the Tyrol, used for Messerschmidt production) & Hohenems, another installation in the mountains. During the spring of 1947 these underground factories were completely destroyed. This fine record includes a full account of this operation, as well as exceptional photos. & drawings/plans of the various factories. Attractive & rare production, VG throughout.
