Official map "Compiled in the Intelligence Division, War Office, from boundary surveys & from sketches, route surveys etc., executed at various times by officers of the Royal Niger Company & others. Much of the information embodied was obtained during hurried journeys through difficult country, & with some exceptions, the positions of villages, rivers & roads are to be regarded as only approximate." VG but for small stain (near Lagos), neat underlining & dates along a route evidently travelled by the original owner, housed in contemp. cloth case with Edward Stanford's paper label "Sole Agents in London for the sale of Ordnance Maps."
