Author commanded 2/6th Bn. Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders throughout the war & describes the formation of this 'second line' unit, recruiting, equipping & training, services at various Scottish stations inc. Forth Defences &c., Zeppelin raid at Leith in April 1916, then on the Kent coast at Sandwich bay &c. (where there were further air raids, destroyer raids &c.). Detailed roll of services of officers of 6th Argylls (inc. those posted to 1st Line Bn. in France) &c. An exceptionally detailed & very rare privately printed account of services on the Home Front 1914-18 inc. many events of interest not recorded in such personal detail elsewhere. Orig. sand cloth, gilt, light wear to sp., boards a little spotted & marked, o/w VG, very nicely produced & rare, with author's ink signature to half title.
