Orig. red cloth, gilt, VG in sl. chipped dw with armorial bookplate of Reginald Bastard (pronounced B'stard) the redoubtable & renowned CO of 2nd Lincolns. in WW1 inc. 1st July 1916 when he famously captured his objective with the remnants of his battalion & crossed NML some four times to try to obtain reinforcements & while doing so brought in a number of wounded men.
