Rare & useful account of each of the mutinous regiments during the events of 1857-59, including artillery, sappers, cavalry, infantry, irregular contingents &c. Orig. blue cloth, gilt, VG with a related presentation inscrip. "Sir Thomas Bramsdon from Sir Thomas D. Gimlette 10th March 1930." The recipient was a Liberal politician & public servant of note in the Portsmouth area while the donor was a Royal Navy surgeon Rear-Admiral to whom the Gimlet cocktail is attributed. Apparently he advocated the mixture of gin & lime juice as an anti-scurvy medication. See illustrations on our website.
