MACPHAIL (Sir Andrew) Official History of Canadian Forces in the Great War 1914-1919: The Medical Services. 1st Ed., viii+428pp., fldg. map. Ottawa: King's Printer. 1925  #70784
[HLMainPic] A "comprehensive & totally authoritative history of the Canadian Army's medical branch in WW1" - Perkins 178. Falls adds a more interesting note: "This is one of the least official of official histories & is often highly controversial in tone. The author ranges over subjects which may seem to be outside the scope of his work, but it was in fact the bad organisation & lack of equipment in the Canadian forces in the early days which entailed so much misery & so much work for the medical service... &c." The map shows medical arrangements of the 2nd Canadian Div. at Vimy, 9th April 1917. Orig. red cloth, gilt, VG.   £85
