Events of the concluding year of that period of 'Troubles' when the Irish Republicans opposed to the Government of Ireland Act pursued their ends via guerilla warfare, then latterly as official opposition in negotiations with the British government which established the Irish Free State. The author, Cecil John Charles Street, was Ed. at Wellington College & the RMA Woolwich; served with the RGA & in the Great War received the MC, then the OBE for work in MI7(b) (the department dealing with foreign & domestic propaganda) at the War Office. After the armistice he was an Information Officer employed by the Irish Office. He wrote two volumes of war memoirs and was a prolific novelist writing under several pseudonyms.
