Extremely rare account of "the Colony of the Bahamas during the Great War" written at the request of the Governor, on behalf of the Bahamas Government, for inclusion in "The Empire at War" series edited by Sir Charles Lucas - but only "A short digest" actually appreared in that work, not including the various rolls & more. Contains info. on various contributions to the war effort, notably that of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Bahamas Contingents that went overseas, with rolls of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Contingents, plus subsequent drafts (these men mainly serving with the British West Indies Regiment); also group photos. of the first three Contingents & "The Colony's Roll of Honour" listing around 40 who fell in various regiments & corps. Orig. green cloth, gilt to front & sp., sp. speckled o/w VG throughout.
