Marvelous history: early British India, Afghan, China, Sikh & Burma Wars, Indian Mutiny, various foreign & NWF expeditions, WW1 Western Front & Iraq/Iran, East Africa, Aden; 3rd Afghan War, Iraq 1920 &c. "The great strength of this history... is that it highlights the particular ethos of the Sappers & Miners & explains their evolution & role. He covers the period 1759-1939 in uniform detail, making numerous references to individual men & their services." - Perkins. One of a number of later-bound sets of original sheets produced by the RE Institution c.1960s but note there is no endpocket as there were evidently no remaining sets of the three endpocket maps that could be found when this version was bound.
