Author joined the Royal Navy as a Boy in 1872, rose through the ranks to Chief Petty Officer & was a gunnery instructor for 18 years; sailed all over the world in many ships & provides an interesting account of service on the lower decks until retired in 1895. Orig. blue cloth, gilt, VG.
