Very rare volume in the 'Second World War 1939-45 - Army' series of official monographs on aspects of WW2 experience. Restricted when published, but these notices heavily obliterated with black ink. Includes a chapter on Basic Survey Organizations in the UK followed by detailed chapters on mapping & survey on the various fronts, inc. map production, supply & distribution, capture & use of enemy map stocks, much detail on survey units, their work & organization. Contains sketch maps of all theatres of war & bound at the end are a very fine representative series of coloured maps, from the original plates, of sheets from all theatres, including North & East Africa, Italy, Burma, Iraq & North-West Europe (the latter including the Normandy beaches & the Dropping Zone Map used by Airborne Forces in Normandy on D Day).
