She was active in writing & politics until shortly before her death in 1999. According to the Foreword she "set down in the following pages her actual experience during the 3 years of Japanese light-giving... It simply reflects the sentiments of the ordinary Burman vis-a-vis Japs. But it will serve as a clue to more competent observers towards the ultimate realization that during the 3 years of Japanese occupation the whole of Burma became a huge concentration camp..."
