Highly informative & accessible account of operations on all fronts. Less well-known than it deserves, perhaps because of its scarcity. The author was Director of the Historical Section (Military Branch) of the Committee of Imperial Defence & the OH was compiled under his guidance. He perceived this to be the final volume of the Official History, rounding up the contents of the pervious series', but post-WW2 HMSO was uninclined to sanction this so the work was published commercially. Orig. maroon cloth, gilt, VG & scarce. See illustration on our website
