[HLMainPic] Richly detailed & standard contemporary account of the Italo-Ethiopian War of 1896 (Italian-Abyssinian & Italian-Dervish campaigns) & the Ethiopian victory at Adowa. The author, George Fitz-Hardinge Berkeley, an Anglo-Irishman, was a prominent cricketer in his day; served in the Worcestershire Regiment 1898-1901 (& as a musketry instructor during the First World War); was a member of the Irish Bar & a strong supporter of Irish Home Rule. The author was a captain with divisional signals in the Middle East & Burma & was later a prominent military historian. His history contains a very fine record of the Division's exploits in all the theatres where it served. Rare deluxe edition, bound in full red morocco, raised bands & black leather lettering labels to sp., plus the Division's black & red "Ball of Fire" (or as their rival formations had it - the Flaming Areshole) sign inset to front.
